Business village opened at Isku Center
In October, an Yrityskylä business village, where the pupils of schools can learn about entrepreneurship, opened at Isku Center. In the learning environment created for secondary schools, the pupils can role play in a scenario where they are the management of a particular company and compete in the international market.
The game helps them learn various negotiation and teamwork skills and also to understand challenging economic concepts. Secondary school pupils are currently playing a digital game about the production of Isku’s Kivikko product range and selling to the international market. They have already learned about Isku before coming to the business village. Other example businesses in Lahti are Peikko and Metsä Group.
Isku participates in the business village project in order to lower the barriers between the Finnish business sector and educational institutions.
“At Isku, we believe that interaction provides opportunities, new ideas and thoughts. This cooperation can give rise to completely new innovations and benefit the whole country”, says Elise Tarvainen, director of Isku Learning.
In the next three years, the Yrityskylä business village on the second floor of Isku Center will be visited by around 12,000 secondary school pupils from the Kymenlaakso, Päijät-Häme, Etelä-Karjala and Etelä-Savo regions. The Yrityskylä business village is coordinated by the Economic Information Office TAT.
